Finding a family doctor in Surrey can take time, but there are a few things you can do right now that make a real difference. Most people who find a doctor quickly do more than one of the steps below.
1. Join a clinic waitlist directly
Some clinics keep their own list of people waiting for a family doctor. At Sullivan Medical Clinic, Dr. Stephen Osei-Osafo is accepting new patients. You can join the waitlist online in a few minutes, and our team calls you when a space opens.

2. Register with the Health Connect Registry
The Health Connect Registry is the Province of BC's list of people looking for a family doctor or nurse practitioner. You can register online through HealthLink BC or by calling 8-1-1. You can join a clinic waitlist and the registry at the same time.

3. Get care while you wait
Not having a family doctor yet does not mean going without care.
- Walk-in clinic: our walk-in clinic is open to everyone, Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Register online before you come in.
- Telehealth: a phone or video visit works well for prescription refills, follow-ups and many everyday concerns.
- Pharmacists: BC pharmacists can assess and prescribe for a number of minor ailments. Pharmasave is right next door to our clinic.
- HealthLink BC 8-1-1: free health advice from a nurse, 24 hours a day.
4. Be ready when you get the call
When a space opens, clinics usually book a first appointment soon after. Keep your BC Services Card handy, make a list of your current medications, and ask your previous clinic to send your records if you have had a family doctor before.
Common questions
Can I be on more than one waitlist?
Yes. You can join a clinic's waitlist and register with the Health Connect Registry at the same time. Let the clinics know once you have found a doctor so the space can go to someone else.
Do I need a family doctor to use a walk-in clinic?
No. Walk-in clinics, including ours, see patients whether or not they have a family doctor.
